Amazon Bee Alternatives: Plaud, Omi, Rabbit, Phone Apps and More

Before you buy a Bee, look at what else turns speech into notes. Prices below are list prices reported in late 2026; check current listings.
Plaud (NotePin, NotePin S, Note Pro)
Plaud is the best-known dedicated AI recorder brand. The NotePin (about $159) is a small wearable pin; the Note Pro (about $189) is a card-shaped recorder much like Eclipse.
- Better than Bee: Plaud keeps the audio, so you can replay a quote. It offers a free allowance of transcription minutes and sells widely outside the US.
- Worse than Bee: pricier hardware, and paid plans start around $17.99 a month.
Omi
An open-source AI pendant with an active developer community. Reported prices vary ($89–$179) and stock has been patchy. Good for tinkerers; less polished for everyone else.
Rabbit R1
A $199 handheld AI gadget with no subscription. It is a general assistant with a screen, not an always-ready conversation recorder. Different job.
The free option: your phone
- Pixel Recorder (Google), Transcript Assist (Samsung) and call recording and summaries on recent iPhones all transcribe and summarise without extra hardware or a subscription on supported phones.
- Otter.ai and similar apps do the same on any phone, with free and paid tiers.
The catch is that you have to remember to start them, and the phone must be out. Bee's whole point is making capture effortless.
The ones that did not make it
- Limitless Pendant (formerly Rewind): Meta bought Limitless in December 2025 and stopped selling the pendant.
- Humane AI Pin: switched off in February 2025 after HP bought Humane's technology and staff.
Their fate is a useful reminder: a cloud-dependent device is only as durable as the company behind it. With Amazon behind it, Bee is unlikely to vanish suddenly — but Amazon has retired products before.
Quick picks
- Cheapest dedicated device: Bee Frontier.
- Need the audio itself: Plaud.
- Like open source and tinkering: Omi.
- Already own a recent flagship phone: try its built-in recorder first.
- Outside the US today: Plaud or a phone app, until Bee launches locally.
